Though not in chronological order, all the pictures of the house are on there for your viewing pleasure!

Our Journey in Pictures

Though far from finished, our house has officially become a home! It has been 3 months since we began this journey; time to reflect at how far we have come.

Again, a huge "thank you" to those who have helped make this dream a reality for us.

Quick Update

I wanted to apologize to all who might be checking this blog thinking, "where the heck did Kelly go?" I did not fall off the face of the earth. The excuse for lack of blogging is little progress around the house. I have been wanting to post a "We're finished!" blog for several weeks now because we are so darn close!! The kitchen has been missing one cabinet door and I really wanted it installed before I took the final pictures.

So, though I have no pictures at the time, here is the house-status:
The kitchen is pretty much complete! We need one more door that is currently being adjusted in the shop. Also, there was a small mishap with the tile surrounding the range that must be fixed. Other than that, the kitchen is up and running! I have already made several dinners, hummus, and ice cream!!! It has been so amazing to cook in my very own, brand-new kitchen!! I anticipate that my days off will be filled with hours in the kitchen. Stop by to try my new creations anytime!

We have been living in the house for several weeks. We had central heat and air installed-the absolute wisest and most important upgrade we made to the house. It has been so fun waking up in the morning in our own bedroom, eating breakfast in our own kitchen, taking clothes out of our own closet...
The bathroom is working out wonderfully. It is actually a lot bigger that it seems. Plenty of room for our necessary toiletries. We have a minor ant problem that Jer is working diligently to solve this weekend.
Rieber is getting used to the house and seems to be liking it. We do not have any interior doors, which posses a problem at bedtime. Rieber insists on sleeping on our bed. Not at the foot of our bed, but directly on my face. Like, can't take a breath because I have a cat on my mouth, sort of thing. This is clearly unacceptable. So the best solution I could come up with; after failed attempts to baracade him with stacked boxes (only to find him on the other side of the wall before I even finished building it, mocking me) was a spray bottle. Every time he jumped on the bed, he was met with a jet-stream of water to his face-sprayed by Jeremy because it made me too sad to do it and brought Jer a twisted amount of pleasure. So, after 2-3 sprays he found a new sleeping spot on the couch. "Great!" I thought, that was easy and drifted off to sleep. Several hours later I woke up and rolled over toward Jer only to find Rieb curled up sleeping on Jeremy's chest; Jeremy snoring away, oblivious in his slumber... I reluctantly grabbed the bottle to spray him and he bolted for the door before I was forced to do the unthinkable. Back to sleep I went. One hour later I wake up to Rieb back on the bed, this time completely under the covers, Jeremy still snoring away, Rieber smugly cuddled up next to him. I have to hand it to the cat for being clever.
I decided to purchase him a bed (mostly out of guilt). I went to Target and spent way too long in the cat aisle deciding on the most comfy and attractive bed I could find, thrilled to bring it home and show Rieb. I got home, put it on the floor and called Rieb over. He refused to go near it! After a week of him avoiding the bed like it was a plague, I decided to exchange it for a different style. Still, he hated the bed. I was so discouraged. Then I thought of the idea of putting a little catnip on the bed. After much coercing and bribing, Rieber finally got in his bed!!! I could not stop smiling, I was so thrilled. These days I find him in it occasionally. Still not his favorite spot, but he's warming up to it. Mostly I am still waking up with him in the bed, but now instead of spraying him, I pick him up and put him in HIS bed. Maybe it will sink in one day...

I am currently down in Sac working 6, 12 hour shifts in a row. When I return on Wednesday I will post a lot of new pictures and detailed updates.

Thanks for checking in!!

(In other news, I am taking care of the most adorable triplets on earth at work this week! I have always wanted twins, but now I'm thinking maybe triplets would be fun... :) If it weren't for HIPPA I would post a million pictures of them)
